Salmon River is flooded, yet we are still fishing, and CATCHING on Eastern Lake Ontario Tributaries. Fisherman are known for telling fibs about how many fish they catch. Hence the age old adage, "are all the liars fisherman or do all the liars fish." Captain Joe lied to me an told me he DIDNT catch this fish, "it's an old picture" he tells me. "Then why are your clothes the same???" Yep, Captain Joe stole my birthday brown trout. Amends were made however when he showed up on the front porch with this steelhead & at least I got a PICTURE of a brown trout. My birthday brown trout hunt continues....... All I wanted for my birthday was a big brown trout. Of course I didn't get one, I have luck with big things, not little ones. It was a cold day, but Captain Joe took me and my friend brushy down the river anyway. We DID catch a steelhead though!!! It wasn't an easy day, the fish were cold & sluggish. This one acted like she was sleeping at first, then she totally flipped out before her big cameo. I also found some funky fungus that was as orange as fish bait. We didn't get skunked & any trip down the river is a lot of fun. Happy Birthday Me😛 This is a nice female Steelhead we caught last week. She put up a 20 minute fight, but with Captain Joe's help we finally pulled her in the boat for a photo opp. My heart was beating so fast I could swear she fought hard because she could feel it through the rod!!! We let her swim away to catch another day.

AuthorMy name is Anastasia. I have been fishing with Joe for almost 2 years, and they have been the best of my life. I grew up directly on the Salmon River and had never been fishing until I met Captain Joe, now I'm 'hooked' Archives
